Description: A culinary herb with small gray-green, spreading foliage. Edible white to purple flowers in summer. Use fresh or dried to add flavor to Italian, Greek and Mexican cuisine. Best planted in borders and herb gardens in well-drained soil.
Edible Qualities: Oregano is a perennial herb that is commonly grown for its edible qualities, although it does have ornamental merits as well. The fragrant round green leaves are usually harvested from late spring to mid summer. The leaves have a pungent taste and a distinctive fragrance.
